Actress and Comedian Mo'Nique

Okay y'all...As we all know Mo'Nique has always been very vocal about her issues in the entertainment industry. Well one of my viewers asked me to break down the whole black balling situation, so here goes! This all started back in 2009 when Mo'Nique won the academy award for her role in the movie Precious. As we know the movie was directed by Lee Daniels. Apparently when Mo'Nique gave her speech she did not thank the producers of the film or the studios and it has been said Mo'Nique was making very unreasonable demands while filming the project. Mo'Nique of course denies any of this happened. Allegedly Lee Daniels labeled her as difficult to work with!

Since that time, Mo'Nique claims that she has been blackballed in the industry and has not gotten the acting roles or pay that she deserves. For the most part she blames three major players in Hollywood and those people are Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry and none other than Oprah Winfrey! Now in case y'all didn't know, Those three are thick as thieves and definitely the people you want to impress in the industry!

Mo'Nique has been blasting the trio for years every chance she gets! She has released recorded private conversations between them, blasted them during speeches and at her comedy shows and Mo'Nique and her husband Sidney Hicks have done some social media live videos about all the drama. Now by far the most disrespectful thing was when during a comedy show Mo'Nique said " Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry And Oprah can s*** my d*** if I had one"! Now personally for me that was going a bit too far. Not to diminish her feelings on the situation but I just feel like that made her look like a raving lunatic! Now for the specifics, I already told you what she is upset with Lee about. She is upset with Tyler because she alleges that he is the one influencing companies to offer her low pay. How she came up with this logic I could not tell you. I do know that she was offered a Netflix special where she claims that she was only offered $500,000.00 when other big name comedians were offer a significant amount more! As far as Oprah, she and Mo'Nique used to be friends. They even shared that they had both been molested by family members. Mo'Nique alleges that her brother molested her and since she spoke publicly about it she has been at odds with him and other members of her family, namely her mom. At some point, Oprah called Mo'Nique to let her know that her brother had reached out to Oprah to come on her show and tell his side of the story and that she didn't know yet if she would let him but if she decided to she would call Mo'Nique back and speak to her about it. Mo'Nique admits that because of her respect for Oprah she was uncomfortable with telling her that she didn't want her to do the story. Anyway, imagine Mo'Nique's surprise when she turned on the tv one day and saw not only her brother on the Oprah Show but also her parents. Mo'Nique says she felt betrayed because she never got a call back from Oprah or a heads up! She eventually confronted Oprah about this at an awards ceremony in front of the entire crowd and Oprah replied " My dear sister if you feel in anyway that I have wronged you I apologize". Mo'Nique thought that was a half assed apology! Fast forward to recently, Steve Harvey has said on his radio show that he wanted Mo'Nique to make up with the trio and that he felt that she had burned a lot of bridges in Hollywood. Eventually Mo'Nique participated in a very tense taping of The Steve Harvey Show.

Steve basically told Mo'Nique that he loved her as a sister and that he wished people knew the real her but that when she made derogatory comments such as the one I told y'all about earlier it diminished her cause and took the focus off of her real complaint which was inequality! He told her that she was never specific when she called for a boycott of Netflix and that the average person could not relate to her issue because these were rich peoples problems. Mo'Nique disagreed and told Steve that she was hurt by his comments and that she would have appreciated his support. Honestly I guess they will have to agree to disagree. I personally hope one day these issues can be resolved because Mo'Nique is an immense talent and I think she deserves her rightful place in Hollywood. Let me know what y'all think!
