This season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been a real jaw dropper! Kenya Moore and Sheree Whitfield are gone and R&B singer Shamari Devoe joins the cast. Now don't forget the friends of the show. As always we have self proclaimed fashionista Marlo Hampton but this season she has some competition as Bravo has added another fashion forward friend Tanya Sam!
As usual these ladies have been turning up all season. Seems like all they do is take trips! They have been to Miami, Destin Florida and Japan. There has been drama galore with marital issues, pregnancies, engagements and strained friendships. Let me break it down for y'all.
Mrs. NeNe Leakes
Nene is the self proclaimed Queen Bee of the group! This season she is dealing with a lot. Her husband Gregg was recently diagnosed with cancer. Nene is trying to be a supportive wife. From her opening her store Swagg boutique to doing her stand up comedy tour, she stays booked and out here making these coins. Her personal life is not going so good. Nene and Gregg are having marital problems. Gregg is understandably very demanding and often very grumpy. Nene feels that he is mistreating her and using his cancer for an excuse. We have watched her break down about this several times this season. Not only is she upset, she is lashing out at the other ladies. Hopefully once Gregg recovers they can get to their NEW NORMAL lol.
Kandi is busy busy busy honey! She and husband Todd are opening a second location for their OLG (Old Lady Gang) Restaurant and she is putting together a Dungeon Party Variety Show! On top of all that she and Todd are discussing getting a surrogate to carry their two embryo's that they have left! Mama Joyce is back to low key bashing Todd and he is not happy! Kandi is also trying to rebuild some sort of friendship with fellow cast mate Porsha Williams but things aren't going too well. There are countless arguments and a lot of finger pointing and he said she said between the two. I understand Kandi being a bit stand offish being that Porsha nearly ruined her career a while back with the rape lie (which was allegedly drummed up by ex cast mate Phaedra Parks). See that's the thing Porsha needs to understand....when you have wronged somebody it is there choice if they want to forgive you or not. Hopefully these two can find some common ground.
Cynthia has a new man y'all. His name is Mike Hill and she is head over hills. They are already talking about moving in together (they are having a long distance relationship) and getting married. Cynthia is having to make a bit of an adjustment as her daughter Noelle has went off to college at Howard University. Aside from that Cynthia is opening a wine bar and being a supportive friend to NeNe. All is well with Cynthia for the time being.
Porsha is living her best life. She has met and fallen in love with a new man Dennis McKinley! Not only is he spoiling her rotten by giving her lavish gifts and taking her on expensive trips, did I mention they are engaged and expecting a baby together! Yes ya girl Porsha done leveled up! Of course when you are too happy something has to come from left field. There have been whisperings around the ATL that Dennis is quite the ladies man and might have a problem completely letting go of girlfriends of relationships past lol. Also Porsha is being very hard on Kandi and I think that stems from the issues they had in prior seasons. Anywho, you know I cant wait to see if the relationship lasts and what baby PJ looks like. I'm happy for her and I hope she gets her fairytale.
Eva is back for her second season throwing a whole lotta whole lotta whole lotta shade! She recently had a new baby with fiancée Michael Sterling. Baby Michael Jr. joins big sister Marley (Eva's daughter with singer Kevin McCall). Eva is stressing planning her lavish upcoming wedding due to the fact that the guest list keeps growing! On top of that the girls are upset because Eva apparently had a secret bachelorette party that only Porsha was invited to. The girls have also accused her of throwing shade behind their backs but being fake to their faces. I think Eva is fitting right in. I know I will be perched when we finally get to see that wedding unfold onscreen.
New comer Shamari came in with a bang! She is married to the legendary Ronnie Devoe and she has no problem letting everybody know it. She has been criticized for not being the most fashionable in the group but you better believe whatever is dished out at her she can throw it right back! Shamari is making an album with her husband and taking care of her infant twin boys Ronald and Roman. She has talked about her open marriage with her husband and her attraction to females. She has been an interesting addition to the show and I hope we get to see more from her!
NOW FOR THE FRIENDS OF THE SHOW...
Nothing has changed with our girl Marlo. She is still telling it like it is! Other than keeping everybody up to date with the latest fashions she is supporting Nene in her time of need. When she is not throwing shade she is making sure to interrogate Mike and Dennis and giving unsolicited advice to the other girls. I wish they would make her a permanent housewife because she brings the entertainment!
I don't really know much about Tanya. She is engaged to Paul Judge. Tanya gives Marlo a run for her money on the fashion tip. She was originally a friend of Nene's but these days she seems much closer to Eva as Tanya has been the main one Nene is lashing out at! All in all I like Tanya but I don't know if she will cut it with the other ladies. She is so sensitive and seems to take all the shade to heart!
